Central Park Special Member’s Meeting July 28, 2004舉行特別會員大會 2004.07.28

The Chiu Chow Benevolent Association has held a Special Members Meeting recently at Burnaby’s Central Park, for the discussions of purchasing Units #1263 and #1265 at #3779 Sexsmith Rd., Richmond as the association’s permanant premises.

The event was attended by CCBA’s consultants, directors, members and their families. The media and some sister associations were also represented.

According to Alex Nam, President of CCBA, the connected units had been visited on-site by real estate consultants and the association’s Board. Having been approved by the Board, the transaction was to be finalized by the Member Body. After much discussion, the deal was passed with a great majority of 98%.

Ms. Po-chu Lee, ex-President, will be the project director and designer of the premises’ interior.

An assortment of refeshments and lunch meals were provided after the meeting. Taking advantage of the fine weather, the members and guests much enjoyed the event until it was concluded at around 2pm.

CCBA’s unity was revealed by its members’ attention to the assocation’s business matters, even at a recreational gathering.
(本報訊) 卑詩省潮州會館日前假本拿比中央公園舉行特別會員大會﹐商討購買位於
列治文置地廣場(#3779 Sexsmith Rd., Richmond) 的#1263 及 #1265 兩單位作為會
址之用。

參加者包括會館的顧問﹑會董﹑會員及家屬﹐尚有報界及友會亦分別派代表出席。
會長藍章銓報告﹐該相連單位業經顧問及會董親自實地觀察﹐並通過贊成購買﹐現
須獲大會同意﹐始能作實。經熱烈討論﹐最後以百分之九十八高比數贊成通過購買﹐
而新會館內部將由前會長李寶珠建築師負責設計及籌劃。

會員大會散會後﹐會方在場內預備午膳﹐食物及飲品皆十分豐富。當天風和日麗﹐
會員與嘉賓等歡聚暢談﹐約二時許才盡歡而散。

Dr. Cheung-kok Choi Memorial蔡章閣紀念

A special memorial event took place at the Ching Ming Festival commemorating the late Dr. Cheung-kok Choi, at the Choi Building, University of British Columbia. It would have been Dr. Choi’s 90th birthday. He passed away three years ago.

At the same time, a Ming Dynasty imitate “Peace Bell”, co-sponsored by Dr. Cheung-kok Choi Memorial Fund and UBC, was unveiled. There was an attendance of some 200 from distinguished members of society and officials from the Governments.

The Institute of Asian Research is housed in the Choi Building. Researches include China, Japan, Korea, India, Southeast Asia, and Australia.

哥倫比亞大學蔡章閣紀念大樓於清明節期間﹐在其大堂舉行特別儀式﹐紀念三年前已
故蔡章閣博士及其九十歲忌辰﹔同時﹐為蔡章閣基金會及哥倫比亞大學所贊助之明
朝仿製品「和平之鐘」﹐舉行揭幕禮﹐到會嘉賓和政要約二百餘人。

哥倫比亞大學亞洲學院設於蔡章閣大樓內﹐研究中心包括中國﹑日本﹑韓國﹑印度﹑
東南亞及澳洲。
